The Centre is able to draw upon and combine the vast range of knowledge and skills of both UNEP and DHI. It is able to supplement these resources through its network of partner organizations in fields relating to its work. The Centre thus occupies a unique position in its ability to provide services that combine environmental sustainability with efficient water management.
The activities of the Centre relate to the implementation of UNEP's water policy, which focuses on the environmental aspects of the management of fresh water resources and the marine environment. The UNEP Water Policy and Strategy is based on three main intervention areas or "pillars": i) Assessing Global Water Resources, ii) Managing Global Water Resources, and iii) Global Coordination.
