Student assistant vacancy starting March 2021

The UN Environment Programme-DHI Centre is a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) centre of expertise, dedicated to improving the management, development and use of freshwater resources ( The UN Environment Programme-DHI Centre is hosted at DHI headquarters in Hørsholm. DHI is an independent, international consulting and research-based not-for-profit foundation of more than 1000 employees, with offices in 30 countries, and with more than 50 years of experience in water resources management.

We are currently looking for a part time Student Assistant to support the work of the Centre for approximately 15 hours per week corresponding to 2-3 days per week over a minimum 3-4 month period starting in March 2021. We offer flexibility for the summer holiday period and exam periods. 

You will be based at DHI Headquarters in Hørsholm (work from home subject to agreement depending on COVID-19 guidelines) and you will work closely with a team of colleagues based in DHI in Denmark, and UNEP headquarters in Nairobi.

Main tasks will include:

  • Support to implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 6, specifically Indicator 6.5.1. on Degree of implementation of IWRM in countries (primary task)
  • Support with communications and website maintenance
  • Assistance in preparation of reports, figures, graphs, various data analyses on ad hoc basis
  • Support in undertaking research tasks on topics related to ecosystem-based adaptation, integrated water resources management, and others.


  • Applicants must be actively enrolled in a Danish university for the duration of employment
  • Masters/Candidate level students strongly preferred
  • Previous work and/or study experience within the area of water resources management or natural resources management is an advantage
  • Excellent command of English (spoken and written) is required. Knowledge of Spanish and/or French is an advantage
  • Experience with basic MS Office programmes – Word, Excel, Outlook is required
  • Knowledge of WordPress or other website content management systems is an advantage, as is experience with Google Analytics.

The exact hourly salary rate will be based on applicant’s qualifications and is expected to be approximately 140DKK/hr. Lunch expenses at DHI’s canteen will be covered.
